How to Scan a QR Code

Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes using the built-in camera — no additional app needed. Here's how it works on each platform.

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the Camera app (default camera).Fotoaparát (výchozí kamera).
  2. Point the camera at the QR code so it's fully visible in the frame.
  3. A notification banner will appear at the top — tap it to open the link or action.

Tip: If it doesn't work, check that QR scanning is enabled: Settings → Camera → Scan QR Codes.Tip: Pokud to nefunguje, ověřte, že je skenování QR zapnuto: Nastavení → Fotoaparát → Skenovat QR kódy.

Works on: iOS 11 and later (iPhone 6s and newer).

Android

  1. Open the Camera app or Google Lens.Fotoaparát nebo Google Lens.
  2. Point at the QR code. On some devices, you may need to tap the Lens icon or long-press the QR code area.
  3. Tap the notification or link that appears to open the content.

Tip: On Samsung devices, you can also swipe down and use the 'Scan QR code' tile in Quick Settings.Tip: Na zařízeních Samsung můžete také stáhnout notifikační lištu a použít dlaždici „Skenovat QR kód" v Rychlém nastavení.

Works on: Android 9 and later (most devices from 2018+). Older versions need a QR scanner app.

Scanning from a Computer Screen

If the QR code is displayed on your computer screen, simply point your phone camera at the monitor. Make sure there's no glare on the screen and the QR code is large enough.

Troubleshooting

QR code won't scan? Try these solutions:

Low contrast

QR code must have a clear contrast between modules and background. Light colors on a light background won't work. Use dark modules on a white or light background.

Too small

The minimum scanning size is about 2 × 2 cm on print. On screen, it should be at least 200 × 200 px. Larger QR codes scan faster.

Logo too large

A logo covering more than 25 % of the QR code area can break readability. Reduce the logo size or increase error correction to H.

Damaged or dirty

Physical damage, dirt, or creases can prevent scanning. If possible, reprint the QR code. Higher error correction (Q/H) tolerates more damage.

Missing quiet zone

The QR code needs a blank margin (quiet zone) of at least 4 modules around it. Without it, scanners may not find the code boundaries.

Reflective surface

Glossy or reflective surfaces create glare that interferes with scanning. Tilt the phone slightly to avoid reflections.
